Plinia coronata "Capitão Fulgêncio"

Capitão Fulgêncio jabuticaba, one of ten cultivars selected by Professor Otto Anderson of the Federal University of Viçosa. This variety produces large, sweet, and flavorful fruits measuring over 3 cm in diameter, with a small canopy of a treecrown-like scar at the the highest point or vertex of a plant stemapex—smaller than that of the traditional Plinia coronata jabuticaba. The fruit ripens from green to reddish to nearly black, has a smooth, shiny skin, and typically contains one or two small seeds. The leaves are elongated and change color as they mature. The cultivar stands out for its excellent flavor, reminiscent of the Sabará jabuticaba but with a slightly more citrusy note. It is regarded as an outstanding variety due to both its fruit quality and overall growth characteristics.
