Eugenia adenantha

A small fruit tree native to the coastal Atlantic Forest of Rio de Janeiro, still very rare in cultivation. It produces curious small, elongated fruits with a strongly warty surface, which turn from green to dark purple, almost black, when ripe. The pulp contrasts sharply with the dark peel, presenting a yellow to orange color, and is sweet, juicy, and slightly like gelatin, extremely softmucilaginous. It usually contains only one seed.
