Couepia bracteosa, also known as "Pajurá", is a popular evergreen fruit tree that can grow up to 20 meters in height with a dense and narrow canopy of a treecrown. It has leathery dark green leaves and small white flowers that cluster in the leaf the angle between the upper side of a leaf and the supporting stemaxils and at the end of branches.

The oval fruit has a thick, aromatic, oily pulp with a thin skin and a sweet flavor. It is often eaten raw and has a high oil content. The tree's wood is heavy, very durable, and used for external carpentry. The fruit can reach up to 13cm in length and 10cm in width.
