Duguetia peruviana, a rare species from the Annonaceae family, is an evergreen shrub or petite tree. Surprisingly, despite its name, it's found exclusively in the low elevation rainforests of coastal Ecuador and likely not in Peru.
In its early years, the tree prefers light shade and exhibits slow growth. By the third or fourth year after seeding, it begins to bear fruit. These fruits, notable for their bright red hue, can be consumed fresh and offer a delightful sweet taste.
