Eugenia bragae

Eugenia bragae is a recently described species of the Myrtaceae family, discovered in the Atlantic Forest of Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil. This species is currently known only from this region. It has been assigned to Eugenia subgenus Pseudeugenia and is compared with E. culicina. The species was named in honor of Dr. João Marcelo Alvarenga Braga, a researcher and professor at the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden, recognizing his significant contributions to the study of Brazilian flora.
