Eugenia subbud located at the apex; new growth pointsterminalis, also known as "Cambuí-Pitanga", is a branched shrub that grows from 2 to 4 meters in height, forming an umbrella-shaped canopy of a treecrown. Its leaves are one main leaf - not compoundsimple, opposing sideopposite, semi-evergreen, and have a bright green color on top and a cream color underneath.
The flowers are white and measure 8 mm in diameter when open, while the fruit is a smooth berry that is consumed in natura or used to make juices, jellies, and ice cream. The plant flowers from November to May, and its bark comes off in like papyrus; paperypapyraceous plates.
