Garcinia forbesii

Garcinia forbesii, commonly known as rose kandis, is a small to medium-sized tree native to Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, and southern Thailand.The tree typically reaches up to 6 meters in cultivated settings but can grow up to 18 meters in the wild. It produces round, smooth fruits that range in color from red to white, with edible specialized outward growth surrounding a seedarils reminiscent of mangosteen in flavor. The dense foliage often conceals the straight trunk, and branches tend to emerge close to the ground. Garcinia forbesii is a male and female reproductive organs in separate individuals - you need 2 (male and female) for fruitdioecious species, featuring leathery, widest near the middleelliptical evergreen leaves. The inner bark exudes a yellow latex. Male flowers are crimson and cluster together, while female flowers are red or orange and appear singly; both types are insect-pollinated. The species thrives in forests up to 1,700 meters in elevation and is suitable for USDA hardiness zone 11.
