Garcinia forbesii

Garcinia forbesii, commonly known as the rose kandis or kandis, is a small to medium-sized tree in the Clusiaceae family. This species is native to Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, and southern Thailand. It is also found in the Amazon region of Brazil.

The tree produces beautiful sweet red fruits that resemble small plums. The sour peel of the fruit is also edible. The white specialized outward growth surrounding a seedarils around the seeds are edible and have a taste somewhat similar to a mini-mangosteen. The tree is primarily found in the wet tropical biome.
