Inga elliptica

Inga elliptica, also known as the monkey tambrin or pacay, is a species of tree native to Central and South America, but is now cultivated in many tropical regions around the world.

The tree can grow up to 20 meters tall and produces long, flat seed pods with sweet, white, cottony pulp surrounding the seeds. The fruit is edible and often consumed fresh or used in various culinary preparations, such as smoothies and ice cream.

Inga elliptica is also used in agroforestry systems as a shade tree and for nitrogen fixation. The tree has several traditional medicinal uses, including treating respiratory infections, fever, and diarrhea.

The tree is an important source of nectar for bees and other pollinators, making it beneficial for honey production.
