Lacunaria jenmanii "Moela de Mutum"

Lacunaria jenmanii, commonly known as "Moela de Mutum", is an evergreen tree with an elongated canopy of a treecrown that grows 4-18 meters tall. It is found in humid upland rainforests in primary and secondary formations in Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, and the Guyanas. The straight, cylindrical the trunk of a treebole measures 20-30 cm in diameter. The edible fruit has great potential for both home gardens and commercial production and is often gathered from the wild for local use.

The fruit is subspherical; globe shapedglobose and measures about 7 cm in diameter. It has a thick skin and a succulent, sweet pulp with a delicious flavor.
