Passiflora vitifolia Seeds
Passiflora vitifolia, commonly known as the crimson passion flower, is a striking vine native to southern Central America and northwestern South America, including countries like Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. This vigorous climber is renowned for its vibrant red flowers, which can reach up to 9 centimeters in diameter. The leaves are three-lobed and serrated, resembling grape leaves—a characteristic that inspires its specific epithet "vitifolia," meaning "grape leaves" in Latin. The plant produces green, oval berries about 5 centimeters long, which contain numerous seeds. While the unripe fruit is quite sour, it can ripen over time to develop a flavor reminiscent of tart strawberries. Due to its captivating appearance and fragrant fruit, Passiflora vitifolia is cultivated in various regions, including the Caribbean
If you like Passiflora vitifolia, you might also like Peritassa campestris "Bacupari do Cerrado" or Parmentiera stenocarpa
