Plinia sp. Diamantina (Anã de Diamantina, Dwarf Diamantina) is a dwarf species of jaboticaba that will likely be described as a separate Plinia species in the future due to its notable differences from other jaboticabas. The plant takes the form of a small tree up to 2.5 meters in height with long branches spaced far apart from each other. The lanky branches are easily bendable and produces few leaves giving the canopy of a treecrown a sparse appearance. The plant is originally from the region of Diamantina in Minas Gerais state, Brazil. It produces velvety (fuzzy) purple fruits which have a sweet flavor with large seeds in relation to the size of the fruit. The plant can be very productive giving multiple crops per year. Diamantina is closely related to Plinia nana and Plinia sp. 829-TBF. Plinia sp. Diamantina grows significantly taller than Plinia nana which takes the form of a shrub that doesn't usually grow taller than 1.5 meters.
