Pourouma guianensis

Pourouma guianensis is a fast-growing, evergreen tree native to South America, particularly thriving in the rainforests of Brazil, Colombia, and surrounding regions. It typically reaches up to 12.5 meters in height and is well-adapted to a variety of soils, often found in secondary growth areas of rainforests. The tree produces violet-black, resembling an eggovoid a fleshy fruit with thin skin and a central stone containing the seeddrupes measuring 20–40 mm in diameter, each containing a single seed. These fruits are edible and consumed locally. The wood of Pourouma guianensis is light, soft, and used for low-value items such as boxes, toys, and toothpicks. Due to its rapid growth and adaptability, it is also utilized in reforestation and agroforestry projects
