Pouteria arguacoensium Seeds
Pouteria arguacoensium is a rare, tropical fruit tree in the Sapotaceae family, native to northern Colombia, particularly the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta region. This species is native/restricted toendemic, meaning it is found nowhere else in the world, and it typically grows in humid premontane and montane forests at medium to high elevations.
Though scientific information about its ecology and uses is limited, Pouteria arguacoensium produces fleshy fruits, as is typical for the genus. It has edible, delicious pulp and two hard seeds, and the tree itself is likely medium to large in size, with leathery evergreen leaves and latex-bearing wood, consistent with other Pouteria species.
