Pouteria caimito "Abiu"

Abiu is an evergreen tree with a dense canopy of a treecrown that can grow from 6 to 24 meters tall with a straight the trunk of a treebole. Its edible fruit is highly valued and is often gathered from the wild for local use or cultivated in domestic orchards.

The fully ripe fruit has a sweet and delicious flavor, with a jelly-like consistency and a whitish, translucent flesh. The fruit is consumed raw, used in sherbets and ice cream, and is great in fruit salads, especially when combined with orange slices. The fruit is a lovely bright yellow and can grow up to 10cm in diameter.
