Pouteria sp. "Abiu-Cambucá"

Very large fruited (10-12 cm diameter) new Pouteria species, flattened in shape, with thin leathery yellow skin, ribbed. The pulp is deliciously sweet melting, cream white and contains 2 to 3 seeds (see photos). It grows in the lowland Atlantic Rainforest of Rio de Janeiro, around Guanabara Bay. The popular name refers to its appearance (like a cambucá Plinia edulis) and taste (like a high quality abiu Pouteria caimito). First time available.
