Pouteria venosa "Aboirana"

Pouteria venosa, also known as "Aboirana", is an evergreen tree that grows up to 24 meters tall with a the trunk of a treebole up to 60 cm in diameter. The tree has a wide, roundish, and dense canopy of a treecrown.

The fruit of the tree is edible but not widely appreciated, and is gathered from the wild and consumed locally. The fruit has a starchy, fleshy pulp with a slightly sweet flavor and contains 1-4 large seeds. Aboirana are about 7 cm in diameter.
