Syzygium versteegii is an evergreen tree native to New Guinea, typically reaching heights of up to 15 meters, though some specimens can grow as tall as 35 meters. It features a cylindrical the trunk of a treebole that can be straight or crooked, measuring up to 45 centimeters in diameter, often with Outgrowth at the base of a tree trunkbuttresses extending up to 1 meter high. The bark varies in color from white and grey to brown, with a slightly rough or smooth, scaly, or flaky texture. The tree's large leaves, ranging from 28 to 50 centimeters in length and 12 to 19 centimeters in width, are spaced along the branches in opposing sideopposite pairs. Notably, Syzygium versteegii produces pink flowers directly on its trunk or branches, which are followed by dark red, fleshy fruits approximately 5 centimeters long and 3 centimeters in diameter, each containing a single seed. While the edibility of the fruit is not well-documented, the tree is occasionally harvested for its timber, which is used locally and sometimes enters the commercial trade.
